Boat collision on the NE side. One guy overboard and on the way to the hospitol. One boat pretty much totaled. Not good.

I guess the guy had his hat fly off and was looking back when it happened. Careful out there. Accidents happen fast!

This is the view from my harbor right now!

That is sure to ruin some weekends! Hope all the people are going to be OK. Boats can be replaced.

Just one more example on why life jackets are a must when on the water. You just never know what will happen.

Keep us up to date Jon.

This was in broad daylight Jon ??? Brad and I were just talking last night, as boats were zooming off the lake all around us at 11:30pm… during the sleet/snow… that it is surprising you don’t hear of more collisions on the pond… Hope everyone turns out OK in that one.

The boater of the boat that got hit was on KQ this am. WOW, he says it was amazing that someone didn’t die when the propeller came over the boat. His friend did end up in the water and maybe having surgery on hand and pelvis today. Ended up that the boat that did the “crash” towed in the disabled boat. Glad everyone survived.

    Yes.

Really had to keep an eye out. Super busy. A lot like pool 4 dam kinda crowd! Kinda surprised there were not other colisions.

Next weekend will be interesting with the night ban kicking in. Everyone running to the dock at 9:55.

The guy on KQ this morning also said the driver of the the boat that hit his boat blew a .15 and had a .11 with the blood test. He was also under court order to not consume any alcohol. To me that would say that he had a stayed sentence or probation in another drinking related incident.

Yet another reason why we do not drink in the boat! Way to many things can happen in a boat when drinking. Not many of them good.

    Sticks and stones. Clever dude.

I’m sure greater Minnesota has its fair share of morons, derelicts and imbeciles too.

No doubt some people have more money than brains, but this story sounds like it is about another “alleged” typical drunk.

thats just too bad that some people can’t be an adult, have a few beers and be responsible about it. instead they get all torqued up, and do something stupid. lucky nobody got killed…

Bob Passions should do a little better job reporting. My pictures and discussion with the people who were in the boat are 100% accurate. The Lund with front end damage ran into>over the Lund with the smashed in gunnel and console. The other picture is the Sheriff taking both drivers to the police station. The injured party was taken away in another private vehicle. I will not post those pix.

looked over the news from the Messenger and saw where the DNR found a huge almost dead musky floating in the Thaimes (spelling?) River. Was not an accident, according to the DNR guy because the fish had several gashes where the person(s) had attempeted to spear it before the fatal blow. Rumor has it the fish was about 44 pounds. Sad to hear about this stupid act.

    From the Tribune:

“Conservation officer Mike Lee of Isle received a TIP call that a large muskie had been speared in the Thaines River and was floating with the spear stuck in it. Lee found the fish and said it appeared that someone had attempted numerous times to strike the fish, with the final spear strike lodged in the mid-back of the muskie. The fish was 54¼ inches long with a girth of 26¾ inches.”

Wow – that is not going to sit well with the Musky fishermen. Where is the Thaines? Is that what runs under Hwy 47 just to the North of McQoids?

I saw someone standing over the river yesterday on my way by on what I assume is the tree you are talking about. Last weekend there were about 4 or 5 vehicles parked by the river nets with people all over and I saw two landing. Wonder what they were doing?

that’s a popular sucker netting/spearing spot. Rumors, just rumors, that a kid may be responsible for mistaking a musky for a sucker.

Wow, that would have to be one big sucker.

Mistakes happen. As long as people learn from them and there was no malicious intent it wouldn’t be right to come down hard on the kid if that’s what indeed happened.

Multiple spearing wounds isn’t malicious intent? A muskie sticks out like a sore thumb, pretty hard to mistake it for anything. There is a strong hatred towards muskies that does not make any sense.
