Just a quick update on in-depthangling reguarding the ice conditions on Mille Lacs. This morning Hook and I spent some time checking ice conditions off Lakeside on the eastside of the lake. The areas we checked we found around 9-10 inches. The area that we setup in was around 1/4 of a mile off the point. We did get the portables setup and did fish a few hours from 9-11pm. We did catch a few nice perch in that short time. I was talking with Hook on the radio when another fisherman chimed into our conversation and mentioned that he had checked out the new ice in the areas that had broke open this mid week……he reported that he checked this new ice and it had around 3 inches. He did say he moved back in out of this area to fish, as it was a bit on the thin side. I was glad to get a report on this area, as I wanted to get out and check it out myself.
The weather has been cold in this area, which has been improving the the ice conditions. We will have a complete report on the fishing later Sunday!
