Was up this weekend and fished out of our permanent on the east side out of Appeldoorn’s. We’ve had decent luck so far this year, but this weekend was brutal. Went up Friday morning came back Monday late morning.

All I had to show were a bunch of 5″ perch, one 10.5″ perch, and one 16.5″ walleye. Didn’t see more than a couple walleye or jumbos on camera all weekend.

To be fair, I didn’t get out and pound a lot of holes other than some tip ups around the area, but it was just plain dead. Oh well….

We were in a sleeper near 3 mile on Saturday and over night. Same deal. A bunch of little “squeezers” and that’s it. Plenty of walleyes and perch swam by the camera. None of them were hungry though. Went out to the South flats area for several hours yesterday in the SnowBear. That’s a pretty slick operation there. We jigged fish off the bottom all day. No takers. After dinner we went out to the shack in a different area. Lot’s of action from about 6:30 to 8:30. Missed a couple, caught more, only kept two. One even broke the line. They were biting on dead sticks with shiners as well as jigging spoons tipped with minnow heads. Not one sniff all night long on the rattle reels though. We were in 31 feet of water.

Sounds about the same as my weekend. We were out of Hunter’s Point. Did catch my first ever ‘Pout though, that was probably my highlight of the weekend.

Agate Bay wasn’t on fire either. Fished the weekend in 25′ on rocks/sand. Had three eyes swim through. Only excitement was a pout during the day and one in the evening and they weren’t big enough to bother cleaning. Catching 5″ perch is only fun for a short while. Switched lures/bait until there wasn’t anything left in the box. Tried for a couple of hours chasing holes in 34′ of mud to only find the same size perch. The week of cold is what we are blaming.
