Both of my customers must have decided that working on the first day of August on a Friday was simply not possible. After both appointments being cancelled I called up to the cabin and let the family know I was on the way early.
This weekend my sister-in-law and brother-in-law went over to Sturgen Bay and left the kids with my Mother-In-Law and Father-In-Law (FIL). We invited them up to the cabin so we could all tag team on the kid duties wathcing the 3 year old and 5 month old. We’ll see how much help I am.
Took FIL, my son JT, and the 3 year old in-law out for some Bass fishing after ariving at the lake and eating some supper. We were greeted with a ton of bait fish all over the reef and I was not optomistic. But my pesimistic attitude was quickly adjusted after getting a 16″ bass on about the 3rd cast. I found one of my favorite rocks and let the bait sink, after looking back and answering to my son about something I looked back to find 4 fish suddenly on top of that big rock. I reeled up slowly and there it was.
The next 2 were 17″ers and the last 19″ that I called prior to hooking. Tonight you could see the line run across the water, let everyone know and then bang, fish on.
At one end of the reef I said to my FIL, “Watch this, sometimes I cast at this buoy and get one.” Sure enough there goes the line across the water. After making sure he and the kids saw the line running I jerked and the fish was on. But I also saw the buoy move. That’s right, the fish had moved around the buoy. Oh well, fun anyway, the line broke rubbing on the bouy line.
Then it was FILs turn. He got a nice one on next to the boat and suddenly it was gone.
On the very next cast he pulled up another 17′ Bass.
The kids and I took turns reeling them in and JT helped his younger cousin pull one of them in tonight. Pictures of the happy boys are included.
So all said and done, about 2 hours on the water. Grandpa with 2 of his grandsons, and some bass. Priceless!
I’m going to try to get Mother-In-Law hooked up with a bass this weekend as well. Wish me luck!!! I’ll send out a report when successful.
