So, how many of you can I expect to see on the pond during the Nov. full moon? The weather allowed us to do this two years ago and it was very good…..

November Full Moon

October 21, 2003 at 2:15 pm #279183
This year I am having so much fun catching big “eyes”, that I am even considering NOT deer hunting this year! That would be a first since “74”! Now I am dating myself! Full moon on the deer opener could be good also!
I think that it will depend on the weather, and how the ducks are moving. It will also depend on if I could get a partner to share the boat with. The last full moon, I had to go by myself. Not nearly as much fun. Also nobody to take pictures! I would like to get there this weekend also, but still haven’t found anybody to go with yet. Looks like I might have to advertize on the “Trip Swap” forum. If we have reasonable weather, I think that I will be there.Figure8emPosts: 27October 21, 2003 at 3:31 pm #279188Weather permitting, I’ll be on the north/west side of the lake somewhere. I’m still a little giddy from seeing those fat walleyes a week or so ago, and would like another crack at them before the end of the year.
I would also like another opportunity at picking up a rogue musky….I’m dying to get my hands on one of those slimy beasts on the big pond.
October 21, 2003 at 3:59 pm #279189I’ll likely be up the weekend of the 7th and 8th. It will all depend on the weather of course. I’m fearfull of a bad winter coming though. I guess we need the moisture.
October 21, 2003 at 8:07 pm #279204Full moon is on the 8th of the month. The November full moon will be a better bite than the Oct. The water will be a little cooler, hopefully, and the season will have advanced long enough for those hogs to get into full swing. Who cares what the weather is at that time, so many sows to boat and so little time………
October 21, 2003 at 9:24 pm #279227Don’t forget the New Moon this saturday!! In the past I seem to have had better luck with a new moon.
November Full Moon is the 8th and that is a saturday so everyone should be able to take advantage on open water.
I think it’s time for me to switch from Muskie to my Walleye gear. It seems I would have a better chance catchin’ a Muskie while trollin’ for Eyes.
October 21, 2003 at 10:24 pm #279231We have a place in Wahkon, but a niece is getting married this Sat. so no fishing the dark of the moon. I’m counting the days to the Nov. full moon. Tullabee spawn should be going then. I’ll have the last dock in the bay again. With the lake as low as it is it should not be to cold pulling it. It’s only waist deep, at the best, at the end.
October 22, 2003 at 4:13 pm #279294I caught my biggest walleye to date on a November full moon on Mille Lacs.
October 22, 2003 at 5:44 pm #279303I am currently working on developing a clone of myslef so I can be both on Mille Lacs as well as Pool 2 of the ol Miss.
Any one have an idea on this? Who needs sleep anyway? When I got off the water on Tuesday early morning, water temps were reading 50.3 degrees. At this pace and colder overnight temps on its way by this weekend, its shpaing up to be an excelllent Nov moon period.
October 22, 2003 at 5:59 pm #279304Steve,
I’ll be your clone, just leave the keys in the truck, dog in the boat and gps turned on. You’ll have to keep the wife satified, but I’ll take over the rest of your fishing responsibilities.
October 22, 2003 at 8:17 pm #279324I plan to be up there too. As you said, depends a lot on the weather. As long as the roads are clear and not covered in snow and salt, should be a go!

October 22, 2003 at 10:06 pm #279333Don’t anyone deer hunt?
Sorry my priority has shifted over to deer for JUST A SHORT TIME….October 23, 2003 at 2:14 am #279354Hmmm…
I’ve never met your wife but this seems like a pretty fair trade. Can anyone take you up on this or is this a “steve specific” offer?… lol
Just kidding of course there buddy. Just the way you worded it stopped me right in my tracks.

October 27, 2003 at 11:05 am #279677I’m there with you buddy, Deer hunt in Theif River Falls then come back and fish till you can’t feel your hands.
October 27, 2003 at 12:49 pm #279681Have to have a good fishing dog to be eligible for the trade James….. I should proof my posts a little more carefully.
November 2, 2003 at 3:41 pm #280508Interesting note on the November Full Moon. There will a Lunar Eclipse on Saturday night. Between 7:00 and 7:30 pm the moon will go dark as the earth blocks the sunlight to the moon. Should be pretty cool to watch between fish!

WalleyeGFAPosts: 82November 3, 2003 at 12:31 am #280530Was out for the last full eclipse of the moon this spring, the bite was on fire until it started… then NOTHING… not even a bite (Leech)… remember the eclipse takes about 15 minutes for the moon to disappear, but hours and hours for it to reappear…
Ill be out there on Friday night with the eclipse on Saturday…

November 3, 2003 at 1:10 pm #280574I was out for the spring one too…………….same thing on Gull Lake………….dead once the eclipse started.
pittmdPosts: 181November 3, 2003 at 7:31 pm #280628I hate superstitious fish. Who cares if there is an eclipse! Just keep bitting.
November 3, 2003 at 9:30 pm #280645Funny everyone should mention that total eclipse last spring. I was also fishing that very night, on Woman Lake and remember a decent bite coming to a train wreck halt when the eclipse started. What is the story this Saturday? It has to be a partial eclipse at best, right? Plus, I’m hoping the urgency of the fall feedbag bite will overtake any negatives. I think I’ll be on Mille Lacs Saturday night.
WalleyeGFAPosts: 82November 3, 2003 at 9:57 pm #280652Where is everyone going to fish at… I may go out on Friday night to miss the eclipse… lol I will put in at the Indian Point launch and fish Indian and Andersons… maybe Ill go to Garrison to put in if anyone thinks the bite will be better up there…

According to the host of a local AM radio talk show here in town, this will be a total eclipse. (They were discussing when the next one will be etc, etc,)

November 6, 2003 at 3:16 pm #281025This one caught me by surprise. For some reason I saw a lot more articles on the one in May.
Hearing stories of frozen harbors at Mille Lacs and even colder temps tomorrow night… I am now rethinking my Mille Lacs plan for Saturday night. I may end up hitting Tonka instead. That is a distant second or even third choice but it might be the easy one. My original plans called for a full weekend – one night on Mille Lacs and a second night on Woman Lake. That got trimmed down to just Mille Lacs Saturday and now a further trimming to a couple hour outing on Tonka is in the making.
