I just got back from the pond, and what a trip we had. I went with a long time friend from high school. The trip first started as a muskie trip as we fished for 3 days casting like crazy with no fallows but did boat 4 nice northern. After being tired of casting with no success we decided to go after some mille lacs footballs and what a great decision. We got 20 some smallies in one evening and 4 were over 19.5″. We fished mostly the west side shallow rocks, we used rip cats made by big fork lurer’s and let me tell you these things are awesome. There is noting like watching a smallie hit something on topwater. The thing I like most about the rip cats is that you can cast them a country mile so if have not tried one you should for sure. The trip ended out to be a great one and I cant wait to head back in a few weeks.
