Had a good weekend pulling spinners on the gravel/grvl sand transition. The wife and I managed to stay busy with a fish every 30 min or so during the high sun hours both days this weekend…the spinner bite is finally taking off. We fished from about noon till 4 both days. Every fish we caught on spinners today was between 22-23″, kind of weird to catch all the same size fish like that without a mixed in 26-27″. Sat managed 7 fish in 4 hours, sun. managed 8 in 4 hours. Had a lot of short strikers/missed fish each day, they should get more aggressive here in the coming days…the spinner bite is only going to get better from here!

The shallow bobber bite was good for the last hour of light, after that it shut down for us. But that last 30 min of light, as soon as the bobber hit the water it was down. The vast majority of fish on the bobber bite were 10-13″, but we did manage a handful of 16ish and a few overs as well.

Pulled a FAT 22″ female today…as the wife netted it we both were amazed at the size of the gut and the fight she gave me for a 22″, I thought it was for sure one of the cookie cutter 26″ fish. Should have taken a pic due to gut size but wanted to get her back asap. Looked like she had a softball in her gut. As I pulled her out of the net and removed the hooks she started SPEWING eggs all over the boat. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing! Water temps at 67 and a fish full of spawn. Surely she will absorb the eggs or release them, judging form the bottom of the boat she’ll release them. Almost July and spawn…anyone notice anything like it this year or in the past??

All in all a good weekend, a bit windy but good fishing. All fish were released to be caught again.
