Managed to make another “inaugeral” personal first last night by experiencing the Oct. Harvest Moon night bite on the Big Pond, thanks to the hospitality of Bobber! I couldn’t let this unseasonalbly warm weather escape without doing something in it so I teamed up with Bob for trolling some cranks under a clear, moonlit sky.
Bob started things out with a bang and nailed a nice 25″ eye using a clown Rogue. Several “swing and a miss” stabs were experienced but it did seem that the bite just after sunset was still a bit challenging. We changed up our efforts and started hitting different points north of Doe Island.
I managed to finally keep a fish on the hooks around Hunter’s Point……….. a nice eater slot fish of 16″. It came on a crank I’ve never tried before so of course, it gets to stay in the tackle box now!
Hopefully Bob will post the pic of him and his fish, it was a good one!
Water temp was reading 55 degrees so the water has warmed up some and the fish we caught all had fat tummies! This does indicate that the bite may be tougher than previously experienced on the lake but there are fish biting and fish to be boated so head on up and give it your best game!
