So….I’m fishing a central Minnesota lake and catching crappies left and right (mostly small ones) with an occasional 13 incher in the mix…and my buddy calls me up and tells me he his nailing walleyes. I’m like (shocked
)… “Where!?!?!?” He says “Mille Lacs.” I said “No way!!!”
I couldn’t believe it and while I was talking to him on the phone at 10:30 a.m, he had to put the phone down to catch a 20 incher (I could hear the splashing in the background), which happened to be the smallest one. He was fishing in 8 feet of water…I kid you not!! My buddy had been fishing with another guy from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon and they caught 15 walleyes from 20 inches to 27 inches!!! They also broke 3 different lines on either big walleyes or pike and lost many more fish.
I’m pissed that I didn’t try this earlier in the year as I was only fishing the mudflats. The big fish are shallow and not many people are fishing it either. I got 1 week left to try the shallow water bite. Good luck this last week to any of you who go!!!
