So what do you think the slot will be on opener?

Im guessing it will be under 17 with 1 over 28 with a 4 fish limit meaning everything 17 to 28 goes back. What do you guys think? And would you still go up there fishing on a regular basis if it went to that?

I would say your pretty close. I would like to see 13-17 and 1 over 28″. Limit 4. I will still go, makes it easier to mutter them elusive words “limit out”

I think the slot will stay what it is now because of the slow bite this winter. If fishing picks up on opener and later into the season, I think you will see 14-17 inches with 1 over 28 with a 4 fish bag limit. There is not a whole lot of fish being caught this winter and so I think we’ll be ok.

Oh and I will still fish there no doubt. It could be catch and release only and I would still fish there the same amount as I do now or have in the past. Awesome lake for not only walleyes…but trophy muskies, bass, northern, perch, and even panfish.

Yeah i would go whether it was catch and release only or you could keep four. I would go either way because fishing is fishing and its not always the keeping that is important. Time on the water with friends and family cant be beat. Let them go so they can grow!!!

Who knows…they change it up so often these days. I wouldn’t mind seeing 20-28, with one over, 4 fish through the first week, then drop down to two fish limit for the remainder of the season. I’ll still be there regardless of the rules/limits.

I’m pretty much in agreement with Birddog,
If they have a 4 fish limit it would could only be for a week or two.
if they keep a tight slot, 16-under 18, then they might keep a 4 fish limit a little longer into the season.

whatever happens, will be lower and smaller than last year.
I’d keep fishing, as it is still good for multi-species, just would have to be careful of NO deep hooking of fish.

We’re all guessing, so here is mine…. 14-17 keeper slot, one over 28. All season.

I like Jon J.’s guess. It would be better to start with a tighter slot early and open it up a little later. From the resort/bait shop perspective this would be best I think. It will be very interesting to see what the early harvest looks like considering the fall test net results.

I would bet that no matter what the slot is if that size fish are being caught large crowds of people will show up to catch then. If they are not being caught there will be a lot more room to fish on the lake.

Now I know where you’ve been hiding Castaway I would be a little amazed if we had more than a 14 – 16 inch slot with one over 28. limit of 4. Once we get past June and they figure out we havent kept many fish we may see this open up.

Of course I will be there…where else can I irritate my neighbors and be welcomed back. See you in the spring.

I’d guess we are going to start with either of 2 regs.

    4 fish 14-16″ with 1 over 28 allowed,

    or,

    2 fish, 1 over 20″ and 1 under 20″ with a 14″ minimum.

I would be all for that Jack.

I would say we will be looking at 16-18 with 1 over 28, 4 fish limit.

That means it’s back to catching “Over 28’s” to win the Big D this year.

We would have won it last year then.

I would guess that they might go with a under 17 and one over 28 inches!! that would be my guess!

I have heard of something for the first six weeks and than a possible change to something else? Most of the fish are caught in the early part of the season
