I had to come in and share this experience:

I just got off the lake from a very interesting outing! I had planned to go after some smallies with the top-water baits James has been talking about….well I never got to do much fishing. I made my first stop on a reef out on the eastside of the lake. I did pick my rod up and was ready to start casting when I spotted a fish off the back of the boat. Well this was not just any fish, this was ONE BIG MUSKIE!!!!!!I just watched as it swam off. Than I spotted another, and another, they where everywhere. I bit I watched 10-12 muskies in the next 1/2 hour. These muskies were all in the mid to upper 40 inch class-Big….I also saw some nice walleye up shallow in the rocks. These fish were all in 4-6 feet of water, the wind was light allowing me to see these fish with my polaroid glasses. I did see some schools of bait swiming around that I think was keeping these fish close in. After awhile I did make a few casts with out any luck…….one time I hit this muskie on my retrive of the lure, the big fish just swam away? On this day I did have a strong desire to catch one of these monsters? but I sure didn’t have the equipment to handle one on this trip.
It was very exciting seeing these big fish……….

    Bobber,

Thanks for sharing that story. Watching nature in action can be very relaxing and enjoyable. There is much more to fishing than catching fish. Sounds like you had a great time on the water to me.

    Bobber,

If you get the urge to “play” with these biggies again…………….I’ve got an extra rod and lots of lures! I’ll get it worked in………..out……………whatever!!!
