Craig D and I went out of Hunters today around noon. I took the 4 wheeler and really didn’t have any problems. A little wheel hopping close to shore but not bad.
We took the staked trail almost all the way to the end and the trail is pretty good, at least it’s packed in well and pretty smooth.
After a little poking around we found our spot and had fish under us right away. A lot of lookers, up, down, up, down. Felt like February. We didn’t get a thing until around 4:00, but then it was pretty fast and furious.
I missed my first bite on the jigg’en spoon, but lucky me he turned right on the bobber line and “POP”. Nice 17 and 1/2″er. Then a flurry of Perch and I finished off with 4-12 to 14″ eye’s. We stuck it out till about 5:30 but they just shut off.
Craig had pretty much the same action except he got a nice 29″ pig to boot.
We punched quite a few holes and didn’t find any less then 7″ anywhere, but the way the snow is drifted in places caution is still a must. Plan on 2-3 inches of water on top the ice as well.
