Each season I’ve spoke with the different crews of DNR guys responsible for pulling these nets every fall for the last… I can’t remember how long. Every fall they tell me the same thing…. prior to sub-55 degree water temps the walleyes just don’t move in large numbers into the shallow on mille lacs lake.

Given that the water temps just dipped sub-55 degrees a couple days ago… and the netting results are already in… I can’t help but wonder how much water temps played a role in the results.

I highly doubt the sky is falling.

I’ll be up there on the big lake in 19 hours to find out.

I find it interesting that warm water, fishing tournaments, and catch and release stressed fish are the culprids in the declining walleye population. Geeee Don, How about all of the SPAWNING walleyes that are netted each spring? Funny that wasn’t mentioned.

Amen! Don’t sell the boat and gear just yet. I’m sure the next setting of nets will have different results.
