With the lake down another ½ foot in the past 3 weeks, let’s use this post to report on current and changing ramp conditions around the lake. As of last weekend (9/15 – 9/16) the ramp at the Wharf is nearly un-usable. There is about 1.2 to 1.5 foot of water in the harbor and I rubbed bottom for about 100 feet once I got to the mouth of the channel. Running an 18 foot glass boat with 150hp motor. Guy in front of me in a 16 foot aluminum with 40 hp tiller did not have much trouble but was tossing some sand in his prop wash. Do not try to use this ramp with an west wind blowing into the access!!

Guys using the public ramp in Isle bay were getting out carefully pulling through using their bow mounts. Saw a few paddles being used too. Pretty shallow in there!

I noticed yesterday (9/16) that Eddy’s ramps are also sticking out a extra foot or so. If your trailer hangs low to the ground, you could get hung up here very easily as well. As I did see some fresh scraps in the exposed cement.

How about Cove? I bet it’s dang near inpassable.

Rocky Reef is just fine (per Jon) as he installed a few extra cement ramps in the spring. He get’s his 20′ Warrior on/off just fine.

I used the south garrison landing sat. night. Didnt have any problem, just had to use caution loading and unloading. Its about 18″ deep after the washout for about 10 yards then it drops off.

I took a chunk out of my fiberglass in that channel about this time last year. The water is even worse now, so be carefull. Also, there is a rock the size of a Volkswagon right where the channel starts to turn out toward the lake. It’s located on the far side of the bend away from the lake. (South/SouthEast).

It’s officially the lowest I have ever personally seen it. As low or lower than last fall just before freez up.

How about Nitti’s Hunter’s Point? I know they dredged this winter. I heard they are looking to do so again. Anyone else have any insight?

Yeah, so kill me. I wanted to fish St. Albans so I used Terry’s. The depth was fine but stay to the far left while backing in. Otherwise you are likely to go off the end of the ramp with the trailer. Other than that good to go. I am surprised the red door was okay. What size boat are you running?

I am running a 20ft tuffy with a 225 on the back. you just have to keep the motor trimmed up until you get out a liitle ways. Just make sure you dont go too far to the right when leaving the harbor.

our private ramp on big point is usable but i am not so sure of the sand bar about a hundred yards off shore that could be a problem. I am hoping to find out next tuesday

I would think Myr Mar should be fine.Just watch out for low spots on Myr Mar reef this year.Hunters is fine just keep your motor trimmed up by the landing as there is some rock pushed up from the prop wash hole but is still pretty good.I landed my 2050 Skeeter there a couple times last week with no problem.Macs twin bay is good and I hear Hunter Winfields has a good landing but havnt been there. Also Izatys is good but they charged me $20 to land there last year The Wharf dredged their channel and is OK for smaller boats but you have to hug the left side going out where it is deeper. The back hoe couldnt reach all the way across.

I had some problems at the Myr Mar public access last week. If you use it, just make sure you stay on the launch side of the dock or you’ll be grounded.

2050 skeeter Castaway. When did that happen. Sounds like a nice ride. Will you still be fishing with the table lamp in the boat this year?

Nice rig. Not sure of what would work better than those lamps. I was using a 18volt dewalt flash light for a while but i still dont think it lit up as big a area as your light. It did work well for spotting nets tho.

    See you up there.

I know it’s not one of the public landings but Rockman’s (Rocky Reef) landing is just fine for a 18′ Warrior, even with the wind Friday it was on / off just fine. Trim up till the 2nd break and you are just fine.

Yes! Public, private, anywhere on the lake. All reports are welcome. Good or bad. Yes, even from Terry’s….

Eddy’s Resort landings are fine as long as the motor is trimmed up for the first few hundred yards out.

Barnevelds is very shallow out front – needed the kicker to get through.

Myr Mar marina is good but be careful out front. The have areas marked now but that will disappear soon.

EDDY’s is fine. Much better than Casino but both are usable. Just be careful to go straight out from the channel opening at both spots.

Can anyone tell me if it is true about the Red Door recently being dug out to the break? Has anyone used this ramp lately?

Yes. They did dredge it out last week. It was in good shape on friday and saturday night. Not sure if the south wind took its toll on it or what but I hit bottom a few times on sunday night going in and out. Talked to them this morning and they where putting out posts to mark the channel and where going to take a look at the channel again. I would give it a try again in low wind conditions as its just some sand to blast threw. High south winds you might want to try somewhere else.

I know two boats that did some damage in that area, but I’m guessing with the wave action, they may not have been “in the channel”.
