Tough bite

I was up Thursday – Sunday working on the shack; new heater, replaced a good area of the sophet, put up some needed wall repair, primed and painted etc.
However, my pops and I did sneak out Thursday evening and Saturday evening for a couple hours each night. We headed to the mud both nights and could not muster anything. Although we didn’t fish long or hard either night, it was the first time skunked on the pond all year. We pulled spinners, rigged, and corked the edges of flats that have producing for me all year. We did not pull any crank baits but I think that is where I will focus my efforts the next time I am up. Just wondering if any one had good success this weekend? Oh well, I guess you take the good (which there has been plenty) with the bad. Not even so much as what we could confirm a bite……

I was up on Friday with my father and fished with Steve Fellegy. While we searched hard on the flats, we couldn’t mark enough fish to really make it worth while to drop lines.

So, with the wind, we ended up fishing some shallow rock piles. Boated 10 walleyes and about 30 smallies. Plus about another 5-10 or so rock-bass.

was up sunday all day. fished smallies in the morning and evening and headed out to the flats during the afternoon. we worked our butts off for 6 smallies (one 16 incher) and not a single walleye. we marked fished all over seguchie on the bottom, transition, and top of the flat, but couldn’t get one to go. a day late and a dollar short as they say. oh well.

I went corkin monday night on the north end mud. Missed 3 and caught a 22 1/2″. Very lite bitters. Had the lake to myself. Only saw 3 other boats as far as the eye could see. Never saw the lake so quiet.

Top honors for the big smallie of the day goes to my pop!
For those that know me, well…..Dad’s hands make mine look small! I’m guessing it went a solid 19″
