I had to show you the picture of this 27, can you believe how skinny it is, although I did catch a 26 and a 27.5 that were very fat and healthy.

Just got back from a week on milacs. We had the same thing as you said. Some of the larger fish were very skinny, but some of them were very very thick and healthy. It also seemed that the keepers were in very good health and chunky also.

    Odd

Just got back from a weekend on mille laces and we caught a few 25 inchers that were very fat and healthy.

That is horrible. In my opinion I dont think there is enough bait fish in Mille Lacs for all these big walleyes.

That is a skinny one. Seems to me 4-5 years ago all the bigger fish we caught in mille lacs were skinny like that but they recovered the next year and it was a tougher bite with a large perch hatch.

Nice fish John. Hope you tucked a leach or two in her before letting her go.

I’ve seen the same thing here guiding as well. Earlier in the year I noticed that certain areas held heavier fish at the same length than other areas. Not so much recently. I think those skinny girls are starting to take the fat kids’ cupcakes.

If you call the 10 inchers cigars,, what do you call this thing. A baseball bat? At least her color looks good.

Much is written about the movement of walleye in lakes and streams. You’d think these fish had no idea where the ‘golden arches’ are. Makes me wonder sometimes if there aren’t a couple different strains of ‘eyes going on up there. A sub species maybe, and regardless how much they eat, they just don’t have the ‘fat’ gene!
Wonder if the mortality rate is higher or lower than the ‘fat’ ones?

Can we get some ‘government $$$’ here for all of us to go check this out?

Amen to that Flatfish. I think its evolution. That way they can swim through the nets. Our judges, lawyers, and politicians aren’t smart enough to put a stop to it.
