The posted payout is for 175 teams. They had 180 in the field so the payments should be slightly more

    Great job Lip

That was an agonizing decision for the Herricks for sure. I know it did not come easy. Those guys are hard core sticks too, but they had to go with the info that they had. And I applaud them on making the decision based on safety. Like Bill said, “We have to make this decision based on the smallest boat in the field, and the one with the least amount of experience on the lake. Thinking that way in the face of the conditions present, they really had no choice but to cancel.
Like it or not, the decision was the right one. With any luck, we will be back next year. This is a great tournament with great people!

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and the Congrats.

It was a very tough day one on the water and the competition was even tougher. I was lucky enough to get onto a spell of big fish before the wind really kicked up. Perhaps what triggered their bite??? Rich and I had a drift where we caught a 27″, 27.5″, the 28.5″, one that was 27 7/8″, and Rich got broke off on what I believe was our biggest fish of the day , in that order before the bite shut off from the big waves.

The Herricks put on one heck of a tourney and looking at the information/data they were given about the weather for day 2. They made the right decision. I will post a report from my week sometime today.

Again thanks for all the support from my IDA family.

There were quite a few IDA’ers cashing checks, not ot mnetion how many lurkers that might be out there. Congrats to Bongers, Castaway (Robert), and finally Kirk and George Nitti’s (Hunters Resort) son for the grand prize. In talking with Kirk he caught their Piggy @ 3:30 pm after suffering a big lull after the wind picked up also.

If they took the one over 28″ away, then they would have a tournament! Otherwise it’s just luck. Don’t feel alone on this one Hawg, lots feel the same. Matt

I dont know that much about tournament fishing anymore, but how much of the entry fee is put up by the sponsors, and not the individual fisherman?

I was disappointed at the cancellation of day 2. They fished in some rough weather on wed. Thu. 5am comes, there’s a storm over western N Dakota and it’s a cancel?? I was up all week and fished most of the days, including Thu. The weather was as nice on Thu as it was on wed. No doubt a guy needs to keep an eye on the weather and be safe but come on, a tournament of that size and a cancel with good weather. Why not do, at the very least a half day on thu?? Being near Myr Mar, the weather truly didn’t start to turn till 2ish and it still wasn’t that bad, think I heard ONE rumble of thunder about 3. In my opinion it was a huge fumble by the tourney director, canceling the nicer of the two days??!! FUMBLE!!!

Congrats to the guys that cashed a check, you earned it in that wind!

There are people that were for the cancellation, but in talking with lots of people over the last few days this is the only place I found them. Right call or wrong call, it doesnt really matter, but for the sake of this tournament I would hope that next year they implement a rule change allowing an extra day for adverse weather. Oh and by the way I dont buy the lodging argument, or the work on Friday thing. If the “vote” that was made was decided on lodging/work, I would bet that the majority of fisherman had Friday off and could have found a place to stay if need be.

Still a couple good weights put together and overall a decent tournament. I was really excited to see how day 2 would have panned out as I am sure others were too.
