I just talked to Lip Ripper. He pulled a 28 1/2 today. He said they had over 15 pounds. I would say that should have them sitting in the top 10.
Thats all I’ve heard so far.

I see the boats are all coming back to the landing at Hunters already at 7:10am. Must have called the day.

I was wondering your thoughts on canceling such event as the “Wave Wacker”, I know its all about safety, but tourney fishing is usually tough. There has to be SOMEWHERE you can fish, and the champion of the WaveWacker and winner of 75,000 bucks should be the best angler able to ADAPT to the changing conditions. I know its about safety and feel free to rip into me on this one. I am just a little disappointed that they pulled the plug on this.

Day two is cancelled. There is a wind advisory for most of the state. Lip Ripper will take home a nice check for 9th place.

The only places to hide would be the south bays. With a south wind, getting there and getting back would be unsafe. There were 180 boats. Winds are suppose to gust to 40 + today. The big launches wont even go out in that stuff.

All I know is if I paid that kind of money to not get a chance at 1 over 28 the second day…..we all know thats what it takes to win any of these Mille Lacs events at least until the slot expands. There would be a foul taste in my mouth to say the least. Good for some lucky guys who got into the 1 over 28, but not a good representation of finding out who the best really is.

Everyone had a chance on day 1 for the fish over 28″ and some caught it and some didn’t. Everybody is playing under the same set of rules, so I don’t see how it isn’t fair. I can’t see sending people out in weather like they are predicting today. The only other possibility would be to go out tomorrow but tournaments usually don’t do that. The FLW got canceled today as well and they aren’t making the day up they are just skipping it. The same has happened with the 3rd day of PWT tournaments in the past, if the 3rd day is canceled they go by days one and two.

You can always hide from wind in a bay… but lighting will find you anywhere on the lake. Bad storms are expected early this afternoon.

Yes, and everyone had a chance day two for 1 over 28, some would have and some would not have, but not given the opportunity. Tell me how that is fair….I am not against postponing for safety reasons, but cancelled….just doesnt seem right.

The rules didnt state using Friday as a weather day. Many guys had to return to work Fri and also only made lodging reservations through today.

    Wimps!

Just kidding! I talked to JBongers and he said it was nasty out there yesterday. With higher winds today and lightning in the forecast, I would say they made a good call. Congrats Lip Ripper and JBongers on cashing a check.

I guess I should lighten up a bit. But I am sure there are some guys in this event that are very unhappy. 10th through 147th caught better slots than 9th(8.49#’s with out the over fish), and those guys pulling 11, 12, 13#s with 6 slots not getting another day of those numbers and a chance at an over fish…..I dont know, take a look and do the math, I will shut up before this gets ugly, I am obviously on my own. I suppose I should add that I dont personally know anyone in this tournament, purely an opinion based argument here.

Congrats to Lip Ripper! Great job.

My buddies Castaway and Fireball did well with a 19th place finish too.

Thats 2 years in a row with a top 20 finish.

I agree with your point. If I paid that kind of money for a two day tourney and it was cut short…I would be disappointed. I think most everyone…even guys on the top after day one would have liked to finish the tourney. (well maybe not the top three teams) But this is not the first tourney to be shortened nor the last. There has been a couple PWT events shortened to one day…I think this year at chamberlain was one day. Unless it is in the tourney rules for make up day…I guess you live with the decisions. I understand your point of making a second day run at the leaders…and it would have changed the top around I’m sure, but it is what it is. Just like the guy who won the Indy 500…I’m sure he won’t be telling his kids that is was a shortened race that he won.. Congrats to all IDA members on there performance…It must have been Lip’s new Ranger boat that got him over the top this year!!!!
