Now that I’ve had some rest I can add a fishing report!! I just completed spending the last 4 days on the water. What I can and will share are what I know from fishing the last four days.

I spent time prefishing this past Thursday and Friday prior to competing in the MTT on Mille Lacs Saturday and Sunday. The fishing continues to be really good as for numbers of fish to be caught! What we found was it is really difficult to find fish in the upper end of the slot. Meaning 19 inch fish!!! The lake has an abundant supply of 16-18 inch fish. With a large number of 23-25 inch fish also. Finding fish over 28 inches is all luck as far as I’m concerned I spent most of my time fishing rock to sand transition areas. We caught fish on the gravel and the mud flats also. The fish on the mud and gravel are a little fatter I think! The slot fish that we were catching off the rock/sand areas ran thin and light for their size. The fish on the gravel and mud were heavier. The methods that we used to catch our fish were rigging leeches and pulling blades!! The word around the fish cleaning bench was about all the boats that were out on the mud midday on Saturday!!! I really think that the mud is ready to go on fire any day…once we get warm enough weather to produce our first bug hatch!!

If your planning a trip to Mille Lacs…make it soon and get up here and catch some dandy walleye.

    Bob,
Did you notitice any of your fish spitting up perch or bugs? We had several that were spitting up either bugs (the big yellow ones) and/or 3-5 inch perch on Saturday. This was all on the transition areas too (24-27 fow).

Sorry didn’t see any……I think the live well was empty also. You normally find some floating in the live well after awhile….

I know a few tourney boats that worked it over this past weekend. It is putting out some fish under a bobber! I know the Hunters launch has been sitting out there a bit….

Got out sunday night from 6-10. The mayflys were terrible. I boated a 22″ and a 17″. Jerry (Sherrys dad) had about 3-6 bites, I seen 3, and he missed em all…

Jerry should have been with me, can you say Laurel and Hardy

Lost a little guy at the boat when I went for the net , not 2 minutes later, latched on to a pig, after a few minutes of fighting ( okay 30 seconds) I finally got it to come off the bottom an 3/4 of the way to the boat and you guess it , head shake and SNAP, bye bye . New rod and 2 minutes lost another one

Enough with the bugs and my bad fishing, I needed a drink so I went back to the lot. Thank god Mike wasn’t with me, Damn would that been an chewing.
