Anybody hear about the Yar-Craft that swamped and capsized off Big Point on Sunday ??

Well, that was me. Long story short. I took on a couple rollers over the transom, swamped the kicker, couldn’t get the main started. Couple more waves, bilge not keeping up….flooding quick…. Then she rolled over on us. Lucky to have a sharp stick like Tim Kisch near who was on top of it. Took us on board and dragged my boat in to shore. Even let me drink his last beer.

Everyone Ok and that’s all that matters to me. Boat is back at the dealer, it’s insured…it’s just stuff. I’ll tell ya, just when you thought you have seen it all….Milly slapped me in my butt. Learned some stuff out there. … I’ll fill in all the details when I get caught up on all the stuff I missed over the last 5 days/nights. Hope everyone else had a good opener!

I think you had someone watching over you. I saw a boat on Winnie capsize on Saturday, everyone was o.k. and thats all that matters.

Man alive, Jon. Glad to hear you’re OK and that you were able to get a quick beer after that. Hopefully the situation with the boat turns out OK, too! Scary stuff.

JJ, The only question I have is……………………….
What kind of beer does he drink?

I think I owe him one for fishing my Bud out of the water.

Really glad to see you guys are OK, and we can laugh about a few things in the time to come, and learn a few things from the past.

Someone on FM posted something about finding some of your tackle. Might want to find him.

I’d say that tackle may have a little bad mojo attached to it.

Buckshot, did you get into those fish?

Sunday Morning I walked down by the Lake and had to hold on to my hat with two hands. I went back and mowed the lawn. Sorry you got swamped but “A mans got to know his limitations”

Glad everyone is safe Jon…and thanks for sharing this.

Since most of use haven’t had the unfortunate experiance of swamping, much less rolling a boat…looking back, is there anything that you would …or could have done differantly?

Anything that you learned that would help out someone else that gets into that situation?

I can recommend one thing that you should do if this would ever happen again…CALL SOMEONE AT IDA! When the reports came in that your boat was towed in…too many staffers had their heart stop….Please.

Not exactly the way I wanted to meet you Jon, but I am darn glad I was there. Like I told you, we both learned a valuable lesson. I know you would have done the same for me. Good luck with the insurance man and hope to see you on the water again soon.
ps. I love the title of this

DANG!!!!!! I’m very glad to hear you were not hurt.

You now have quite the reputation for pushing a boat to it’s limits. You ever consider working for a manufacturer in the testing/qualification of hull durability and design?

Well, I’ll have an open seat for you over Memorial weekend. Shoot me a PM.

So much for good karma for dragging that boat for 3 hours on Pool 2 a few weeks ago. Next time, let that SOB drift and enjoy your opener!

Wow! That’s a stone’s throw from our cabin. I didn’t hear about that as I wasn’t actually fishing on Sunday. Left the place about 3 p.m. Must’ve been pretty ugly out there! I saw some nice caps in the bay and I said, “Not even a chance of going out today!”

Glad to hear you’re alright, amigo!

I read about this on a different site. I just about fell out of my chair when I read your post to find out it was YOU! I’m glad you are safe and I hope you are on the water again real soon. You will have a story to tell for years and years.

Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear everyone is safe. Like BrianK i would like to know if there is anything that can avoid this situation? Anything you can share to help others avoid this would be appreciated or specifics on how it happened. I’m sure once it starts happening it happens quickly.
