Going to hit the big lake tomorrow morning for the Small-eye for the first time…

We have some areas a friend suggested to go on in the SE portion of the lake, my questions are:

In general, are these fish using most of the structure in the lake
(Docks, rocks, reeds, sand etc.) and you just need to cover water to find them or do they generally relate to certain types of structure?

I see most people talking about jig worms etc., are you working them like a normal jig or are you swimming them etc.? Are you getting them on the other usual suspects too? (cranks, spinnerbais, topwater etc?)

From what I’ve heard, it sounds like the fish aren’t really going until the afternoon…is that usually what happens on the lake or a day to day type thing?

Just looking for some trends, any help would be appreciated!!

My son and I had great success hitting docks in the morning and with jigs and soft plastics. When the dock bite slowed we caught a few throwing cranks over rock piles.

Was that in the summer or spring…or yesterday?

    Thanks for the reply!

    South-East corner, Eh..?

For starters, look for the marker bouys. Right out of Isle bay, Hawkbill Reef out of Macs Twin Bay, More over by Spider Island, up by Pine Island and Doe island. Bouys = Rocks, Rocks = Smallies. Also any of the rocky shorline near these areas. Middle of the day has been good for me, but that’s when I get done chasing Walleye!!!??

I was a tough day Friday but we ended up with some pretty nice fish. I was impressed by the size of the average fish. We caught about 20 and the vast majority were fish in the upper 3lb class, just chunks…the biggest was 4-1. Caught them on rocks docks and in reeds…thanks for the help!
