Just curious as to where everybody will be staying? If your not as fortunate as some to have a place on the lake, which resort/hotel u staying at.

Myself, a group of three will be staying at McQuoids.
But will be planning on getting some grub at Hunters & Macs.

Thankfully I’m staying at the Hukreide compound, which is strategically located next to the Ertl complex. Any floor space available will be my resting spot.

Gregory’s a couple miles south of Garrison. Will be working St. Alban’s bay. Hopefully the bite will be as good as last year

Even though we have a place in Wahkon I still drive up to the sand to put in. I think I’ll put in at Fisher’s this year. Malmo access will be way too shallow.

from what I have heard Wealthwood might be too shallow for my rig. Was going to give Doc’s a try, anyone have any other suggestions? I’ll bring my waders just as a precaution. Picked a few crawlers last night, so maybe my brother can show everyone how to catch walleye on a Swedish Pimple and crawler. Stay safe everyone.

I know early in the season last year I was at Wealthwood and did struggle a bit at the landing. Bunk trailer versus a roller trailer makes a big difference.

You MIGHT be able to get out of Red Door providing the south wind is not strong. I know last fall I had .9 FOW according the the graph and that was on a calm night coming out of the harbor.

    Maybe consider Fisher’s.

I think Doc’s might be a tad closer to deeper water than The Red Door, but I could be wrong. I have a bunk trailer and find it easy to load, but tougher to launch in shallow water, although the boat won’t take off on you and roll off and dig the whole back end into the sand/rocks. At Weathwood the entire cement grates are out of the water, and I know that won’t be pretty.

Red Door and Fishers dredged out in the main lake. That will last a few weeks. Doc’s did nothing out in the main lake that I know of so that will be trouble for the first 50-100yds.

Wealthwood will be a mess but I am sure the DNR moved the ramp slabs into the water further… What good that will do anyone when the water is 1-2 ft. for 50 or more yds. I have no idea. But it is sand and should work IF there is zero wind….off of a roller trailer.

Myr Mar is the deepest on the north shore by nature. No dredging needed there. The “North Garrision Bay access should be barely okay if the wind is not howling out of the south.

Does anyone know how the water level is at Terry’s? I usually put in there.

Because THAT harbor/ramp is built out in the lake and not on the natural shoreline…it is usually okay …even in lower water years such as we have now. It was fine last fall and we have about 4-6″ more water than we had last fall at freeze up time.

Thanks Steve, I might be using Red Doors harbor then. You going to be around this weekend? I have your cell # in my phone book from last winter when we met.

I will be observing my 55th Mille Lacs opener—from my perch—68 ft. above the lake on the Myr Mar point–the entire weekend. I just ain’t mad enough at the fish yet to go out into the crowd.

    Good luck to all!
