Rick22,
I myself have not been up north in a number of weeks. The reports that I have heard are that they have been seeing some walleye on the deep sand breaks and out on the Carlsona sand bar.
For smallmouth I would look for any rocky shore line up along the wealthwood area (Red Door) and try the shallow rocks from 6-8 feet deep up into the rocky shorelines……also look for the larger sized rocks as these smallies like to lay in the cracks. Rick22 try a small jig and a bright colored K-Grub or Ringworm!!!
Yesterday in a tournament I caught smallmouth in 20 feet of water on a rocky reef! I found this school of fish and started rigging them for walleyes and all we caught were smallies! They were fun fight from 20 feet down……….
