Hey Steve. Now that Walleye season is out of the way, its time for my true passion. Chasing Perch!!! Where do you think is as good place to start? Time of day? Mud? Shorelines? Presentation? etc., etc. Thanks.

Well, I’m out in the Sugar Bush these days so I don’t know much.

The brighter days are best and 8 am. to 2 pm. is the best based on my past “perch’n”. We always just jumped along the 22′-27′ along the north shore or we went to any of the flats that have a steep bank and fished the deep water around the flat. We caught buckets full half way between flats a few times too. Half way between shore and the first flats too.

Sometimes “panfish” size stuff is best and sometimes walleye size stuff is the best. Grubs/crappie minnows/big fatheads on bobbers. Hard to say….they all work! Trick is to find’em.

Thanks again Steve. What do you think is the water temp or date when the perch start staging off the shoreline breaks for spawning?

The perch spawn about a week or more after the walleyes spawn…that’s all I know.
