For the past few days, I have had the wonderful opportunity to test out some wonderful new lures that are to hit the market shortly from PradCo. The first is a new deep diving crank from Rebel called the Spoonbill Minnow. These new lures were put through its paces over the past few days with shining results. These lures dive to about 18 feet with most of todays common superbraid lines. yesterday we had about 5 boats out working these cranks for nice fish photo shots as well as the video crew. Along with my boat out there was several other PradCo sponsered walleye anglers, Gary Roach, Steve Bisset, Tom Brown, and Perry Dreyer. All of the boats hooked up with fish throughout the day for some great pictures for catalogs and brochures. I believe between the 5 boats, there were about 6 fish over the 28 inch mark caught yesterday on these cranks. Here was the best color of the Rebel Minnow for us yesterday. The black back, white belly and gold sides. This lure has a tight wobble that drives big fish wild.

The 2nd lure to hit the market soon and I think it will be an absolute huge bonus to all river anglers as well is the new Grappler Shad by Cotton Cordell. This small but dynamic shad bodied lure can reach depths of 22+ feet and is physically the size of a #7 shad rap but dives much deeper. With a tight wobble and the ability to run TRUE right out of the box. Gary Roach had this lure running up to speeds of 10 mph this day before it would kick out of tune. After my years of experience on the water, let me tell you that this alone is a huge relief. Lets face it, if your lure is not running true, you are not reaching the diving depths you think you are and you are passing up a lot of fish in the meantime. My guess this new Grappler Shad will change the market in small running shad bodied baits forever. I will let you in on a little secret as well, the fine folks at PradCo are even considering building this gem in a #5 size! With 25 awesome colors to choose from, this lure will be your next trolling lure on Mille Lacs Lake as well as other walleye infested waters. This new one has got me real excited and I predict it will change the market very soon.

Could be a wingdam casting MACHINE if it runs the way you say it does. Rattles? A #5 size would be the bomb too. Thanks for the info.

Any ideas on how *soon* we may be able to get our hands on some of these buggers?

Any idea on price point? With far too many cranks pushing $7/piece I’ll be hoping that Pradco comes in around the pricing they have on wally diver!

DeeZee, what is the length of the Rebel MInnow? Sounds like a solid producer.

    Guys,

Do not quote me on this but I believe this Grappler shad was to hit the shelves in the low $4.00 range. Definately a small price to pay for a good running crank that will turn the heads of many many eyes. I know myself and many other avid river anglers have been pulling our hair out with lures that are running out of tune right out of the box and frankely, I have sick of it all. The #5 rap is the first one that comes to mind when I think of it. I find my self buying five just to get one that runs right. I have no problem tuning a crank once or twice out of the box, but when you only get one or two trys to tune it and its shot after that point is beyond my attention span. Nuf said about that subject.
James, this bait does have a little weight to it and has responded well to being casted from a spinning rod. Again, I see this lure being a great troller as well as a dyno pitched crank.

    Scott,
The Spoonbill Minnow is about 6 inches long. It is actually a little shorter than the Smithwick Deep Rogue in length for comparison. I have been having difficulty loading pics from my PC here at home, otherwise I would shoot a quick digital of the two side by side so you could have a good idea. LEt me give it once more shot!

    RippinPigs,

I am not sure how far out they are on getting these to the stores. The stores are the number one priority asd they have many orders to fill due to the demand. So, my guess is that they will be availible by mid July to early August!
I will try to get more of an answer soon as I can.
