Dinosaur and I spent Saturday morning chasing Muskies and Smallies in the East Side bays. We worked over areas we felt may hold early Skis without seeing a fish. There were plenty of guys out in search of this elusive fish. If the Musky is the fish of a 1000 casts, I have about 800 more to go before I actually get one!!
Many of these areas where we fished for Musky looked like great Smallie water. So we switched back and forth several times. We boated several fish including this one Dean is holding.
This fish came on a meps spinner over a shallow rock/small boulders area in about 3 feet of water. Seems like this is the average size smallie going on Mille Lacs. Lots of fish in the 15-18 inch range.
