Hooked up with fellow IDAer Dandorn at Terrys on Sunday,we had a blast out there! We hit Terrys at 6a.m.,after a little meet and greet we hit the lake. The mud was going to be the target for us today. After a look at the Lakemaster maps we settled on a spot that we thought looked good, inside turn with a gradual drop.We started fishing about 6:45 and iced the first eye about 7.That was the start of a great day on the water! The early bite was mainly walleyes,by 11 we had 5 fish between 16″ and 19″ and three over fish 2-24″s and a 26″.Then the perch turned on,not all jumbos but plenty for the bucket. They would come and go for the next few hours with an occasional walleye also.At about 3:30 the walleyes moved back in but not as eager to bite as in the morning. We moved around looking for the biting eyes but just alot of lookers and fewer hook-ups.We ended up 1 fish short of our limit, fish #8 was making us look like couple of rookies(at least 4 times we had it hooked) .The sun was setting and I was going to make a move when Dan yelled “I have a pig on”,I went over to help him land a nice 26″ fatty .After that the bite was pretty much off, besides a little guy that was the last fish of the day.We pretty much stuck with the same baits all day, perch color was the best for both of us.Buckshots and Go-devils with a minnow head were the bait of choice for walleyes and perch. We ended up catching 5 walleyes over 20″ and 11 under 20″.The perch we caught were of various sizes,we caught about 30 and kept around 16 with Dans 13 3/4 being the biggest of the day .All in all it was a great day, cant wait to get back this week.Good fishing with you Dan,we will see you next time. Here are some pics to check out.
