    Hey all,
Heading up to your neck of the woods this weekend and was looking for the latest update on the lake. I read Steve’s report, and was hoping to get a little expansion from it.
I’ve fished Mille Lacs this time of year for a while now, but I’ve never been able to put together any sort of pattern from it. Are all these fish generally shallower than 15 feet this time of year, or are they heading out to deeper areas in the main lake already? Usually I give up on my locator a while after I get out there. Maybe its just me and my locator, but I have a heck of a time finding fish that shallow.(15 feet or less.) Usually I just pick some promising looking gravel and park my boat over it. Seems to work all right, but I think I’m missing the bigger picture here.
I’d appreciate a few pointers or ideas from some of the local die-hards out there. Thanks in advance guys.
By the way, I’ll be in a 18′ Warrior Eagle with IA plates if you want to put a name with a face. I’ll also be staying at Dundee’s in Waukon if you want to stop by and crack a beer.

I fished Wednessday to Saturday night on the north end by Malmo to Red door in 16′ to 28′ on the break lines and had some good luck. Long snells with a red hook and adjust your size of lindy weight so you can always can feel the bottom.

    FEAR NO FISH!!

If you get a chance ask for James Weiers he works at Dundees and also runs the launch there. He might be fishing some of the tournaments coming up here on Mille Lacs and might hold back some info? But ask him and he will send you in the right direction. Another good idea would be to get a King Tutt’s lake map. It will give you some great detail of whats here in Mille Lacs! If you have a maine radio…give me a call on channel 82 “Bobber”

    Good Luck

If you dont have a Maine radio (not many people do) Use your Marine radio. You should get more chatter and Bobber might even be able to pick you up on that. He has a top notch Maine radio I believe. Just ribbin ya Bob.
