It was another cold one this weekend. If we could just get rid of the wind it wouldn’t be so bad. The fishing this weekend was a lot like last weekends fishing. The deeper that you were the better off you were. There were only 18 walleyes caught this weekend and a few nice jumbo perch. Every thing seems to be in small pods, and not in any real big schools. There was another big fish taken out of a rental house this weekend. Take a look at this one. You want to talk about fat and sassy, the best thing about it all is, once again is that here is another, father and son memory from Rocky Reef. I can’t ask for anything more than that for the weekend. It is nice that there is only 3 weekends left for me on the ice, and then it is rest and relaxation, so we can regroup and get things ready for the sale, of cabins and Rv lots in the spring. I have been hearing a rumor about an extended season. I will be done on the weekend of the 25th either way. Every time I stay out past the original close, I get hit with either rain or snow, or the front end at the access blows up. Not this year baby. It has been a real b**ch to say the least with this cold weather. Everything that is not in top shape will rear its ugly head and show itself. The perch bite is still on hold. I am looking forward to chasing them down in a couple of weeks; I can sure tell you that. We will see if Mother Nature will loosen her grip on us this week.

That is about it for this weekend.

    Stay safe

    We will see ya

    Rockman,

Just got home from fishing from your resort overnight. We had what I thought was incredible fishing. My 5 year old will remember for a lifetime. We caught 11 fish. 5 Walleyes and 6 perch. The eyes were 9, 24,25,26,27 and we lost three others. Here is a pic of my son Mathhew with a 27incher almost a big as he is

wait a second! I was under the impression that walleye/northern season does go till 11:59p.m. of the 25th. I don’t have a regulations book open infront of me, but I sure hope my initial thought is right. We have 21 guys getting together for a few days starting the 22nd and coming home on the 26th, sure would hate to have all this set up and find out we are just targeting perch and beer. Although that is not the worst thing. Everybody always asks how the fishing was, kind of feel dirty or something when I have to say “I don’t know, but the drinks were sure great.”

thanks guys, after reading rockman’s report i almost went to outpatients, we have been doing the trip on the same weekend for many years, kind of like letting the wife know you will never be around for Mothers day. Although there are those few years where opener doesn’t fall on Mother’s day weekend, that is called redemption.

Yep, walleyes end the 25th, and houses have to be off 11:59PM the 28th. Day tripping only after that.

Can you pull a sleeper house out and stay in it over night after the 28th, assuming you are at the house for the duration of the stay? Thanks,

    Lars
