I was up there today scouting out the soon to be Perch holes. Absolutely beatiful until about 3pm. Clouds came and boy did it get windy. Needless to say I found my perch and am looking forward to some great trips with clients. Perch fishing is my favorite and the more sticks the better!

Glenn, he’ll probly let you bring your own sticks for a benny and half . I’ll be on south mud this weekend again, hopefully all by my lonesome. (If that darn breaker doesn’t woop my butt getting there)

Matt, have you noticed a better morning bite then evening this winter for the bigger fish (walleyes)? Seems to me like the morning magic is better then the evening lately. Maybe see ya out there, Adam

We went 4 miles out on Saturday and did real well on jumbo perch. Tough driving the wheeler with GPS in one hand through sideways snow with the right thumb frozen to the wheeler throttle. Got a little frost nip on the cheek on the way back.

Today we were over run with walleyes 2 miles out, just off the rock drops in 31 FOW. We got some huge perch…then it just shut off. Then for the next two hours we watched walleye after walleye on the camera. We got one 17″er, and learned a lot watching their behavior! Boy, the perch are really starting to turn on, and are they BIG!!! I know a lot of the guys here have been concentrating on the walleyes. But I have been looking for the perch. And finding them. Quality over quantity though. If you find bugs, you will find the jumbos.

Here is Bruce B with a couple that spanned a 5 gallon bucket. (Do I really have to wear a blindfold when you take me to these spots? It’s too hard to drive the wheeler! )

Seems to me the Morning has been the best all year. I’ll be honest and say that night run does not compare to the morning. I know that waiting around for the fish to come to you in the evenings is not the way to go about it. However we’ve been seeing the inactive fish that many claim as “lookers” turn to biters in the evening. Thats when those stationary fish bite. However if they’ve had jigs hanging in their face all day you won’t see a good bite from those stationary fish. Its best to leave them be and venture back later if you don’t find something better. Seemed to be the key this winter

For me, the deeper the better.
    Good luck!
BTW, 1/16 ounce Go Devils in Firetiger was the ticket for us.

With one my kids having strep throat and the other an ear infection my grand plans of 2 days on the pond were reduced to 0. Oh well, hopefully this week I’ll make it out. Sounds like some pretty good fishing last weekend! Well done guys, Adam
