Congrats are in BIG order to this example of the future of our sport!
Interesting to note that when I was his age, catching a walleye THAT size/big at Mille Lacs was a once in lifetime experience–if you were lucky. It’s only been the last 20-25 years that fish over 5lbs. became common. Pre-’50’s, fish smaller than 16 inches and over 23-24 inches were VERY rare.
An example of what I am saying is how “Eileens Point” mudflat got named. Eileen Walters, from Easton Mn., caught a 6 3/4lb. walleye on one of my dad’s launch trips(July mid ’60’s) and he named the flat after her for catching that RARE sized fish. Until then, we talked of that flat as just “the flat west of the Backer”.
So–we’re spoiled these days! Now I complain about TOO MANY 25-27″ fish. Go figure……
Again–CONGRATS on the big catch!
Keep a tight line…..
