Today I can see out into the lake and its all open as far as I can see. I’m sure there is alot of ice yet on the lake, but its all down on the SW corner right now. This wind today might do more damage to the shorelines on that end of the lake.
We have rain and ice right now here on Mille Lacs with high winds……..I’m in a hurry here as the lights are blinking and may lose power.

Every year the pics of ice out on Mille Lacs amaze me! How do you clear the road of a few hundred/thousand tons of ice??? Better get some snorkel pumpers or something up there before the big chill freezes it together!

i drove down the service road around noon and the road crew had it all cleared out. the ice stopped about 10 feet from the resort. if this wind and rain keeps up it shouldn’t be to much longer before the ice will be gone. we got about 3/8th of a inch of ice all over everything, or i would have put the boat in again today. borden and kenney lakes just north of garrison are open.

Hell’o………well we are back to some what normal around here now! We just got our electric back on after being out for 25 hours………thank god for generators! we had 5 generators running in my neighborhood.
The wind, rain turning over to ice covered everything.
Trees down along with TV antennas.

You yes and the lake is open!
I’ll wait for the Mille Lacs Messenger to come out next Wednesday for the offical date.

Had to run up to the family cabin last night and noticed lots of flooded fields and yards……..many glazed over with ice. Same story………….thick ice caked over EVERYTHING! I really had to work to get the paddlelock off the gate! Didn’t notice any downed trees (dark) but deer really skid down the highway when they clip the corner of your vehicle! It hit at an away angle and my speedo was just getting under 30mph when we made contact. Once those feet lose traction, those critters really slide on a slicked over roadway! No damage to my vehicle, appeared to be no damage to the deer. Saw 11 yearlings so watch out guys…………..it’s roadkill season already!

there is still ice in wigwam bay, from point to point. the whole bay is full. rolands bay and vineland bay also have ice. cove bay is free of ice but there is ice from mazominee point across to shore acres resort. there is still alot of ice on this side of the lake. i think it is going to be a few more days before the lake is free of ice.

    Yes you are so right!
The Mille Lacs Messenger also stated that there was enough ice on the lake that they could not declare ice out yet.
Oh well its getting closer to my date of the 27th.

It’s official! Ice out was called on April 22.

See Story in Mille Lacs Mesenger: Mille Lacs Messenger – Ice Out

So, who ended up with the correct guess? Mine was April 20th.
