Yesterday I made it down to the local creek and saw a few Northerns spawning and the kids were snagging some Suckers in the shallows.
Last night I checked out in the lake and saw a few “marble eyes” swimming around! The walleyes are up close to shore in around 1-2 feet of water. Even with the ice out only 50 feet or so the fish are coming in. I’m thinking that they are just starting to spawn, with the weather changing in the next few days, it would’nt been good for spawn due to the cold water temperatures. This weather might just post- pone thier activity for a few days.
Last night the wind was calm and the moon was out. It will be a much different tonite, I’ll let you know how I see thier activity in the next week or so……….
