Just got home from fishing Mille Lacs on Saturday & Sunday nights with my brother. Started out Saturday night fishing south of Garrison. Was alot of boat traffic but we managed to scrape out 5 walleyes trolling in 5-6 feet of water at trolling speeds of 1.2 to 1.3 mph with largest being about 24 inches. We couldn’t put together a consistent pattern so we relocated to North End around midnight and caught 4 more walleyes incl. 26 incher and 1 pike. Water temperature was 42 degrees. Had a much better night Sunday night near Garrison as there was a nice SE breeze blowing into the bay and less boat traffic. Ended us catching 16 walleyes incl. 28,25, 24, and 24 inch fish plus some nice eaters. I really thought we had a good chance of catching over 20 fish but we didn’t quite make it. My brother Gary(as usual) had the hot hand with a # 12 Husky Jerk in Tennessee Shad color and #12 Fire Tiger Husky Jerk produced some fish. Most of our fish came on inside turns and once moon went down we had to slow down to about 1.0 mph or less. Fish were scattered throughout the bay. Never did try using trolling motor in 4 feet of water but sounds like we should have. Most of our fish were caught is 6 feet of water and a majority of fish were caught with rod in the rod holder. We were only letting out about 75-85 feet of line most of the time. We had about 4-5 short hits each night but never lost any fish at the boat. Don’t know if I will be able to sneak up 1 more time next weekend or not. Thank you to everyone who has been posting reports on this forum as it is very helpful.

Thanks Jack. Sounds like you had a great night fishing with Dereck on Saturday night with lots of large walleyes.
