Suggestions on ice fishing trip to Mill Lacs

    Looking at going ice fishing somewhere from Dec.26 to Jan.1. Looking for some suggestions on what part of the lake that would be the best for that period of time. We would be using portables, but we don’t have an atv.

    I was enjoying my best fishing during that time frame last ice season!! I spend my time on the eastside of the lake out of Hunters Point. My best times were in the early morning and sunset time periods in 17-21 fow on the rocks.

    The ice conditions should be ok at that time. You need to always check with the resort that you are accessing the lake at for the current ice conditions. Hunters Point Resort has a great access to the reefs on the eastside of the lake.

    I agree with Bob. Access the lake via resort. Do not use any public access. They are not maintained in the winter. There really isnt a better part of the lake for fishing. Walleyes and Perch use the whole lake. Look for the latest bite info here in IDA before you come.
