I’ve been in the cities this week starting my transition back to the real world. Whats the latest water temp on the pond?

I just talked to Tuckner and he had 46 last night where he was at on the west side. With all the wind lately, its hard to figure if one side would be warmer than the other.

What do you guys consider the ideal water temp? I realize trolling speeds slow down, but will the fish shut down at some point or will the good bite just continue?

I had my best bite last year 42-48. The fish seem to keep on biting even through the ice.

She was 47 last night on both the north and west ends. One thing I noticed was that the huge numbers of fish that were staged off the breaks were noticably missing! It was pretty clear that they were not in the shallows! I think like everything, the water needs to settle down to a “Normal” level for a day or two, and then the fish acclimate, and move back into more predictable feeding patterns. I still catch many early season walleyes in the shallows after first ice!

The water temps say the fish should be ripping it up. They’re not. At least not for me last night. I’m back out tonight and will let everyone know if the fish get back on track.
