I am fast becoming a huge fan of Mille Lacs, what an awesome lake. My normal haunts include the St Croix and Pool 4 so fishing the big pond in a real treat. We started fishing about 3:00 in the afternoon an marked quited a few fish in 20 ft of water but could not get anything to hit. About 5:00 we moved into about 8 to 10 feet caught one about 19 inches and then another about 18 inches.

I had yet to catch a fish, when all of a sudden my shoulder was nearly ripped out of it’s socket. Boy did this gal hit hard. Not only did she give me some massive head shakes but treated us to not one but two tail dances. We got here in snapped a couple of pictures and then set her free. Lucky for me one of my friends is a Muskie fisherman and knew how to handle the fish.

We ended up with walleye of 26.5, and 3 27 inchers. I was well worth the trip up there. In fact we are heading up again Sunday night, maybe we will meet up with my Muskie’s Big Sister

Dress warm and stay dry. The fish will do their part, if you do yours. Good Luck.
