Send Nate down to my house when he is done! I suck at this stuff! I told Deb if it does not have “Shoot, cast, kill, or go fast” in it’s title, there is a pretty good chance I suck at it!

From the photo it looks a little different. You must be able to go wherever you want because a lot of people are on 4 wheelers. Don’t the contestants have to stay in a certain area??? It also looks like you can use ice houses? The contests that I have been too you pretty much fished in a large area and holes were predrilled. I’ve only fished a couple and it’s been awhile. Anyway this looks fun to me and a photo opurtunity as well. The ice should be plenty thick by February. Please keep us in the know. Steve

Steve,Mike…..It would be great to hookup and fish these.
I will be fishing both the Hunters and liberty events. Steve you are allowed to fish any place on the lake. Contest hours are from 7-2 pm or so? They have some great turn outs for these. After the contest they present the awards for big fishes…..and than they have door prizes! Liberty gives away fishing equipment, guns, more guns and lots of nice prizes for around 1 hour!
If you hav’nt fished one of these events you have missed out on some really good times. We fished the Liberty contest in -20 below temps……and had a good time! had a hard time keeping the beer from freezing.

*attached is a photo of the big perch board at last years Liberty event. The big perch is normally around 1 1/2 lbs!
I’m very interested in seeing what comes to the scales this season?

Hope to see some of you there…….

Those are some nice plumpers on that board. I could sure go for about 6 of those for a fish fry. HA HA Of course after they get weighed in. I think I am gonna make at least one of those events but not sure which on yet. Is one end or side of the lake better for perch than the other. I do have some secret baits to use while I’m there. 20 below is not beer weather though! Maybe coffee and ????? or hot chocolate and
????. Some of that Polish Tea like I had on my last trip up there will sure warm you for a while. Steve

    Bobber,

What does it usually take to win this event besides some double fisting?
What did last years winners catch?

I know I will be fishing as far away from the crowd as I can to assure un-interuppted fishing. The Cold ones can wait until after the contest is over.

Right Big D! That would leave every beer distributor from the cities to Aitkin scratching their heads, wondering what was up! Glad to see you came to your senses! I think if you get out to the banana bar, stick your head down the hole, and look for the last rock on the left, you know the one…..You will win the tournament riiiiight there!
Hey Bob, can I fish the Honey hole if I don’t have a boat? Or will I have to get across the yellow police tape under the cover of darkness?

I heard of a guy from Aitkin that caught fish two out three days last week up on Red. One day they just did’nt bite.

A buddy of mine just got back. He has a Perch he is putting on the wall. They got about a dozen keepers. A lot of lookers though I guess. It would have won money! Nice fish. I have the grids. So, I guess the Honey Hole will be safe from interlopers. I am still trying to talk my honey into the “Hukreide Honeymoon Suite” for the weekend. It is our first anniversary Thursday. Hook said he wasn’t fishing. Did he reconsider?

Last I heard he was fishing. He went down to Hunters Last Friday and picked up his button. I know his brother and Shommer are also coming up. I believe Ahty is also coming. Sounds like a recipe for trouble to me. Just kidding of course.

I heard that one of the Vikings had some trouble? Also heard the name Todd Bowman come up……….did you have a good time?

I thought the event was great. No doubt Tommy Kramer was great entertainment. I did get to talk to him a number of times. To bad this situation came up (pending investigations) I thought all the Vikings handled themselves well and really took care of there fans.
Sheri (my girlfriend) has about 25 or so signatures on her Arctic cat jacket from the guys with numerous pictures with them.
Gary Anderson, Randy Moss, Steve Jordon, Darin Nelson, Duante, Chris Doleman, Bouman, Moe Williams, and the great Bud Grant (a true outdoor sportsman) where in attendance. Plus about 15 more present and former purple. Moss talked to George at Hunters about hooking him up for some fishing on the Pond this summer. I hope this doesn’t spoil it for next year and future fund raisers for the childrens fund.
