I read in the star trib that a guy apparently drowned last Sat. on Mille Lacs. First and foremost, my regrets if anyone knew this individual. Secondly, just that much more of a reminder to stay safe. Especially if your headed out alone. Something to think about as most of us will be running at night during the next month.

So many things could have happened, but the boat was anchored. I guess one will never know exactly what happened, just play it safe.

If you are fishing the west side you probably don’t have to worry too much. The wind Sunday and Monday was blowing hard out of the NW, and Tuesday it blew really hard out of the SW and switched NW about sunset. Wednesday it came out of the N.

If you fish the S or SE, you will want to keep your eyes open though.

My mom works for the Corps of E’s. She has been on more than one people finding mission on the river in SD. She always prays it’s not her boat who finds the unlucky soul.

They probably wont find him until spring. With the water temps his body is likely on bottom.

Don’t worry! The body is still on or near the bottom with water temps as they are. It could be as much as ten days or more for it to float/drfit. It could be two weeks before it is found on shore–most likely. Then again—IF he had lottsa beer and certain types of food in him, he could come up a little quicker. But then again??

Let’s be careful about speculating! His family or a friend might read this and take offense. A 1000 different things could have happened.

I forget what the percentage is but it’s pretty high that they find fisherman’s fly’s open after they’ve drown. A fisherman/boater is at his most vulnerable when trying to pee over the side of the boat.

I saw a post on this once where they discussed all kinds of different safer techniques for urinating while in the boat. Some we’re pretty good ideas.
