    Hey Bob,

So, how did it go for you and tim on Saturday? I didn’t fish the river this weekend, too cold to enjoy it in my opinion but those that did caught lots of fish. How’d you guys do on Mille Lacs? Any perch?

Thanks man. Curiosity gets the best of me!

I got out saturday late afternoon in time to drop the camera down a hole. The water is still churned up on the east side, very poor water clarity. I did see one of those small perch(4 incher) swim up to my minnow and take a nip at it. There were about a half a dozen guys in site of where I was fishing and no reports from them of anything being caught. After going back in saturday evening I did hear some grumbling over the radio from Bob about some dam EELPOUT or something like that he hooked up with.
The ice was between 7 and 9 inches thick, I was only out about 1/2 mile from shore.
Bob may have something to report as I didn’t talk to him yesterday.

No good report from this guy…….as Hook stated prior, the small perch hung around my spot all afternoon. The sunset bite that I setup for never happened. The low-light was a big eelpout that ended my evening.
The ice was freezing and cracking all evening. It might have caused the fish to stay away from my reef? ( it’s my excuse any how!)
The ice conditions out to about 1/4 mile were good. The ice thickness was 8 inches in most all areas, one area I found had 6 inches. I heard of a couple of guys that went out on foot friday afternoon to the southend of lakeside reef and picked up 9 fish. The ice deepth was better out there they reported than closer to shore. They wished they had taken the atv out and not walked that distance……better to be safe than sorry this time of year.

I hope it gets better, but me and friend went up yesterday and got very little. We started in Vineland bay for northerns and got one 5#er and 2 small perch. Then went to a piece of structure near Big Point for the evening bite. We had done very well there this summer and guessed that it should be a good early ice spot before the crowds show up. It wasn’t, we didn’t get one bite. Ice was about 11″ in Vinland bay closer to shore and about 8″ further out. Ice was 11″ north of Big Point about 300 yards from shore, but we did not go near big point so I don’t know what that’s like. Guys on ATV’s and getting fish houses out at Liberty, even some quite a ways out. We walked on though. Better show up with your game face and a whole bag of tricks. Good luck. Bret
