How’s the ice on the southeast side?
    Walkable? Thick enough for ATV?
How far can you get out? Bays only or out to some of the closer in mainlake structures?

Any decent perch bite going? If anglers are walking out I presume some are getting into some perch/walleyes/pike in the bays.

I have been seeing ATV traffic the last two day’s…….no fishing reports yet.

I plan to get out tommorrow am just after day light.

will post some fishing info after the wkend…….

the ice deepths vary from 3+ to around 7+ it varys do to the break-ups we had last weekend. Some areas had open water Sunday, and had to re-freeze.

This time of year you need to use extra caution while on any ice.

I hope to make it up soon!!!! I definetly want to get up there before cars and trucks are on the ice. I guess some of the resorts I talked to are looking at pulling out some houses next week. There were fisherman out on the north side of Doe Is., but no report as to catching anything. Good Luck tomorrow….I’m taking the weekend off from fishing. I expect there will be too many fisherman out on the local lakes for me to justify fishing around the noise. Maybe I’ll cross paths with ya next week.

I walked out of AGATE BAY RESORT on Friday, there were others on snowmobile and 4-wheelers, that went out farther on the reef than I did. Had 6 inches of good ice the surface is busted up here and there, but the cracks were very small. It was noisy as the ice was expanding. I fished the top of reef in 10′ out to 17′. Picked up 2 walleyes jigging, the tip up was dormant. The highlight of my day came on a jigging Rap and took 5-6 minutes to get her up to the ice, she made 10 strong runs of several yards each time. She ended up being a Musky and was right under my knees at the hole when my 8lb test lost the battle. Her head filled a 7 inch hole and its eyes were nearly 6 inches apart. After the line broke she sat there for 5-10 seconds before slowly swimming away like a submarine. My largest Northern is 40 inches and this girl put up 5 times the battle. It was great to out on the ice again!!

That kinda gets the heartbeat racing! Musky are a blast ice fishing….I like hooking them on tip-ups….hand to hand combat with the premier predator. Good times!
