The ice conditions vary around the lake. The high winds we had this past weekend has caused some areas to just freeze over. Fishers Resort on the northeast end of Mille Lacs reports 7 inches of ice out front. Hunters Point Resort have plans to first get out on the lake tommorrow and do some checks on the ice.
North of Mille Lacs in the Aitkin area, Pickerl Lake has fisherman now driving their vehicles on the ice…….I have also seen a few fisherman getting out on the lakes in the Nisswa area. I think this cold weather has put some good ice deepths on the smaller lakes.

I would recommend anyone to first check with your local bait shop or resort prior to heading out on any lake.

I will continue to keep you posted on improving ice conditions here on Mille Lacs……..

I checked in with Tutts Bait and Tackle in Garrison today to get some ice conditions on the westside. They said they have 3-1/2 inches on the new ice that has frozen over sence this weekends wind. The fisherman are getting out along the west and northend of Mille Lacs. Fisherman that I saw out were all on foot…..no atv or snowmoblies yet.
The ice should be good by this weekend.

Do check with your local bait shop or resort before going out on any lakes for the most current conditions.
