Thought I would try to post a photo from tonights trip. Picked up 8 walleyes so far. Most running 20 to 23″. Here is a phoyo I hope of a 28 caught about 20 minutes ago.
Im on the south end of the lake tonight fishing rocks again. Targeting the steeper breaks on the reefs.

    Mike,
When I read the heading, my first thought was “he is home already”, bummer.
but posting from the lake is pretty forward thinking. No way my land line could reach, best of luck the rest of the night.
Have the milk run set up????

Way cool Mike! You try Anderson’s yet? I have had some real good luck there. My GPS looks like I’ve scribbled a couple of hundred circles around that reef. Good luck with the rest of the night sir!

Was hoping to put anouther reply or 2 last night but with limited service on the lake it takes awhile. The walleyes I was on disappeared shortly after my last reply also. Then the smallies moved in and I moved on.

Left the first reef around 11 and fished 4 others after that. Never did get back into any fish. Missed one on Popes about 2am. After that I headed in and caught a few Zss in the truck before heading home this morning.

Water temps where around 63 in the middle of the night. A little bit slower trolling speed seemed to get the fish going last night. 1.7 to 2 was average. A change in speed or dropping the rod tip back on key spots helped alot also.

Thanks for the tip on location Derek.

Tryed the west side for a while tonight. Launched at pikes point a little after 7. Thought we where on them right away with boating a nice 26″er just a few minutes into it. Missed anouther right after that . 20 minutes later picked up a nice 8# pike and a 25″ eye. Then that was it for the night. Trolled the inside weeds at st albins and hooked up with one small fish. Made a small pass on the outside with nothing. Went back to the rocks on pikes point, nothing. Tryed the north side of garrison reef, nothing.
Water temps where 58. The weeds in St albins did look to be laying down a little. Better luck next time.

    Hey Mike,

Is the water temp where it should be this time of year?

I haven’t been out yet but we did pretty good last year at this time in St Albins bay.

If I can get some stuff done this week, I plan on hitting the west side friday night.

Didnt realy keep track of it last year so I dont have a answer for you. Maybe some one else does.
Last year it did seem like we where on fish in that area all ready. Not sure if it was just a off night last night or what. After working my 2 most productive lures from last year threw the bay and only hookig up 1 small fish I decided the options where, waite them out and see what happens or go looking for fish. We went lookig for fish.
Might have to do a little research on what was going on last year at this time. I do believe the full moon was much earlier in the month this year.
Hoping to check out more of the north and NW side of the lake this weekend.

Looked threw last years reports and not much mention of temps at this time. Last weeks temps from last year looked about 5 degrees warmer than this year. Full moon looked to be about a week or 2 later.
The biggest difference looks to be the fish. There seems to be a fair amount of reports from the 15th on from last year with good reports in them. The good reports and my fishing this year seem to be a little more hit and miss.

Here is something for you to take into consideration…….there is more forage in the lake this year than last, and the daytime bite hasn’t dropped off as much as it has the last few years. Coincedence?
