Made it out last night with a great guy from the board here and boated a few fish on big point. Put in about 6 hours on the water, fishing in the snow! Managed 6-7 fish with the biggest at 26.5 inches. (See attachment above) Take note of the snow starting to accumulate on the hatch covers. Also managed 2 slot fish.

Glad to see all the fish we caught real fat and well fed. One of the 15 inch fish I cleaned had 5 perch in it’s gut! Hope to see this trend continue.

Six hours goes by way to fast! Wish we had more time to try different cranks. Husky jerks, Rouges, Shad Raps all got bit. Most fish came near shore in less than 10 feet of water.

Thanks to Jeff who took me up on my open seat offer and Dinosaur for letting me camp out at his cabin.

Yep that Dino is aok in my book. Great photo’s. I love that view of the little harber across the street from Dino’s. That looks like one real fat eye in the photo. Steve

Thanks again Jon for a fun time, the drive home was long but I took it slow. The nice thing about snow is it that it keeps your beverage nicely chilled. I am glad the picture turned out, she was a beaut…………….later

    JAE,

Good to meet another fishing nut willing to go out and fish in conditions like that. We did not have much company out there!! lol. Hope to do it again soon.

I was out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights and we had outings VERY similar to Jon’s – except we were on the other (west) side of the lake. We bagged about a half dozen fish each night and it was tough going – lots of waves, cold, clouds, and even snow.

I tried to take Jame’s advice and slow down my trolling speeds. I tried pauses, sweeping the rod, etc. Despite my efforts, I think I probably was still a little rough on the details to enjoy his level of success.

As everyone else is saying… it is amazing to see how much weight the fish have put on. They seemed to fall into two categories: normal/healthy and downright obese with nearly bursting bellies. The biggest fish of the weekend (27.25″) was one of the fatties. I am not exaggerating when I guess it was about 9 pounds! Plus, it had a slot sized walleye (maybe 13-14″) wedged down it’s gut with the tail sticking out of it’s mouth. I took some pictures of this amazing creature but it was with a regular film camera. If I think of it, I’ll scan them and post them when I get the pics back.

Jon’s “day after” pictures showing his boat after the snow storm look very familiar. I had to take a couple photos of my boat too. I’m guessing the east side was a little more tolerable that night because there was an east wind.

I cut my vacation a couple days short and drove back Monday morning. I headed out on Tonka for a two guy skunking Monday night.
