Well, after numerous bragging sessions about the ‘can’t miss’ full moon fall outings on Mille Lacs, I had some old college buddies take me up on my invitation to join me this year for the October full moon. If I would have just kept my trap shut, we’d probably all be enjoying better fishing on Mille Lacs this fall! I haven’t been on ML since September 20 but it was slow then and most of the reports I have seen since (with the exception of Jame’s) tell of more slow fishing.
Anyway, I’ve got my fingers crossed and hope things actually change for this weekend’s full moon. I’ve heard people go as far as to suggest maybe there just won’t be a typical fall walleye run on Mille Lacs this year. I guess I just have to be happy with the good news – which is the starvation scare from this spring seems to be over.
Has anyone been out? Any good news to report regarding night fishing? Or, is it more of the same… uncharacteristic slow bite for October?
Also, I hadn’t fished much on the north side prior to this spring. What is a typical walleye pattern on the north end sand in the fall? My ‘home waters’ for fall fishing are all on the west and SW side of the lake but I’ll be staying on the north side this weekend and I’d be willing to try something new if my regular shallow rock trolling doesn’t produce.
