2 cool… I get to go back up!
What fun… I would appreciate any tips on where to find active Musky for a all day bite. Or… is there such a thing?
Hawger
I’ll be up by Thursday night and have the task of catching “at least one” 30 lb muskie for the guy I’m fishing with before we head out and chase walleye. Like it will just be as easy as snapping my fingers…lol So I’ll be out doing a half-day muskie round-up before getting after the walleyes. What I find out, I’ll gladly share. It’s not often a guy gets to fish with a couple muskie nuts from Poland so I’ll do whatever I can to help you get on active fish. Dustin will be coming up over the weekend too and will contribute to the chase as well.
We’ll find ’em or run out of daylight trying…. can’t wait to “fish with two Poles” on Mille Lacs Lake…lol!!!
I guess you heard that I am fishing with the two owners of Salmo (from Poland) then… yep you are right! They get only one rod each… and I get to fish with two “Poles” . Fun… I can not wait!
I’ll look you up when there, these guys might just be interested in a night walleye bite too.
Hawger
Me too! Me too!!! I already have my rods packed! I leave Sunday afternoon!

I’ll be their as well guys. I am heading up Fri the 11th and will be their until the following Sunday the 20th! Looks like we will have to hook up and compare some notes and reveal hidden secrets.
See ya on the lake.
Hey, with all you guy’s up here next week…..maybe we could do lunch or breakfest one day?
Hmmmm…..anybody no how to put on vinyl siding? or want to learn !!!! LOL
I will be there too, but no fishing until the week of 20th.
Stop by and have a beer.
Hey Bob, you doin’ the cookin’? Breakfast sounds good!
I’m bringing the crock pot up. We should all bring some stuff to throw in it, nothing like a hot roast or stew coming off the lake in October!
Tuck
Boy… I want to learn how to do siding… can I learn while you take my place fishing ?
Right!
I will look for you at breakfast though…
Hawger
I was thinking of the Sunrise Cafe in Malmo…….the #10 skillet is my favorite………..hope the fish turn on for us. We might all have to follow James to his spot. The fish on the eastside have not been there for me YET this fall. I have not heard of any fish being caught from any of my neighbors or friends around this side. There has’nt even been many boats out on the lake after dark. And those that I do see are gone off the lake by 9pm? Tonite there is 3 boats out front and I’m here on the pc?
See ya all soon…….
Wow Siding!!! That sounds like great fun. I’ll tell you what I’ll stop by and have a beer and take your photo while your working. Sounds like a job for a media guy. Quote of the day “Don’t hit cold fingers with a hammer” Have fun Dman maybe well see ya up that way. Pick your tool from the attatchment. LOL
Hey Bob, What are gas prices up there???? $1.60 here right now…..Is it worth while gassing up the Sub up there????
Tuck
Sidings is DONE. Ready for the winter. Maybe now I can get some fishing in. Anybody have any luck this weekend? Lieneman, you a funny man.
LOL.
Guys it is a ways off but I am going to be up on the 25th. Which ramp do like for leaving the vehicle at night?
I do not mind paying.
Thanks, Don
Don, which side of the lake are you planning to fish?
let me know and I’ll list some spots for you……
The side that has the fish on it!!! lol. Hey Bobber, couldn’t resist. Even Nate will be up there starting Thurs. taping Hooks new house [when hes not fishing]. Gee, all you guys up there and I’m stuck down here minding the store. Catch a few for me. Bill
Next time I go to Mille Lacs, I will leave the bananas at home….
So… come to find out, bringing bananas into the fishing boat is very bad luck! This is an old Polish superstition…. and of course I brought two bananas on board!
Very funny… Steve Greene and I laughed so much that I got a side ache. We laughed at all the other things that we brought to eat and how they must have effected our “good luck” too… the bad, bad fishing luck we had that first day. The cold front wiped out the active pattern and nothing was on the feed.
This was a very interesting trip for me. I enjoyed meeting and fishing with Piotr “Peter” Piskorski and Radoskaw “Rod-O” Zaworski, the owners of Salmo Lures. The conversation went very well through their interperter, who was affectionately known as “Number 3” (because his name is too hard to pronounce). “Number 3” was most helpful in relating our thoughts and comments to each other. Both “Peter” and “Rod-O” spoke some English, but having an interperter was a great help in getting across concepts. “Number 3” was a good fisherman and I would consider him great company in my boat anytime. He was quite good in making and keeping up good conversations.
“Peter” and “Rod-O” are real pro-fishermen! I mean real hard-core types… I watched as they threw every Salmo color and style at the non-producing waters. “Rod-O” was suffering from a sore throat and went back to the hotel about nooish… (and did not join us again to fish) but “Peter” pounded the water till dark. And, I do mean pounded! “Peter” is a fishing machine… I was very impressed with his ability and stamina.
With no fish even seen… all day long… and having a battle the cold front and with high winds, I was ready to drive to another lake for the following morning. “Peter” was convinced that Mille Lacs would be our best chance at a monster musky… so we hit “her” hard again early the next morning. We went from six thirty am to two thirty with no follows… and only one bump for “Number 3”. “Peter” told me that he had learned the meaning on a new American word… TOUGH… he says… now I know what is tough! The fishing was tough!
I was very pleased to meet these guys. I feel that I have formed the foundation of a lasting friendship and good buisness relationship with them. “Peter” is interested in our EFN staff promoting Salmo and is willing to expand the present program I have with Gary Snyder, who is his USA distributor. I have asked “Peter” for Salmo hats, an increased lure allowance for both EFN-Pro-Staff and EFN Level Two Pro-Staff, Salmo embroidry reimbersements, and Salmo jackets & shirts for Level Two EFN Pro-Staff, that are interested.
I am in negotiations with “Peter” also for Salmo to become an active ARM (Anglers as Role Models) supporter and sponsor. He understands about the future of fishing being in OUR hands and the real needs of today’s youth for meeting real fishing role models. I am sure from our conversations, that Salmo will help and support ARM in some way. I also have asked to direct and assimilate their Pro-Staff department.
When we parted, “Peter” asked if I had a box or bag for him, so that he could give me some of his own personal Salmo lures. I told him that I had a van… he said that he knew that I had a van, but needed a container to put the lures into that he wanted to give me. I told him yes, I understand…. just fill up the van! “Peter” was quite generous and left me with many of his lures.
We had real fun together, eating (Steve Greene brought a great spread and did a good photo job as Media Pro-Staff), fishing, and joking. I hope to join these guys again the next time they come to Minnesota. Hopefully, no cold fronts next time.
Oh yes… I think these Polish guys were “zooming” me about the bananas! What fun!
Attachment shows “Peter” and his generous Salmo gifts.
Hawger
Bob,
I was planning on the west or southwest side, thanks for your help.
Don
Thanks for the offer Don but I’ve got so much stuff to get done around here [home] as I put it all off with the RCL and then the club tourney and, yes James and Hooks I finally sold the “poor little blue car”, and got an older red blazer so I’ve got some things to get done on that too. Catch a few for me Bud. Thanks, Bill
No Bananas is right Dave. I laughed untill I ached. Thank you for the offer to go up and fish Mille Lacs again. It was a long day begining at 2:00 am and leaving for Mille Lacs by 2:45 Am.As I got to the Casino I spot Dave trying to sneak off without me but I caught up to them. We hit the lake by 6:45 and boy it was cold out. The mist coming off the boat was freezing to the windshield and the canvas top. It warmed up shortly after that when Rod-O or Peter asked if I wanted a sip of Polish Tea. It warmed the belly as soon as it hit bottom. Tea it wasn’t maybe Cognac but not tea. I guess anything that comes in a flask probably isn’t tea. These guys are definitely serious fishermen. They threw baits the entire day except when we took a break for a bite to eat. They seemed to really like the munchies I brought along and we had a great time talking and joking as we ate.We drove around to the Red Door and relaunched the boat and continued untill I had to hit the road at 6:00 pm.I arrived back home at 9:45 PM. This was a long day but I would do it again in a second. There is only one thing better than fishing and that is making new friends while your fishing. I hope to stay in touch with those guys and get out with them the next time they come to town. NO BANANA’s and I’LL bring the FLASK. LOL
Sound like the gentlmen from Salmo have a great sense of humor !! Yes, we have no bananas ! They really got ya on that one ! Way too cool I just wish I could have been along to enjoy the comradery of two different nationalities comming together on common ground. It sounds that the pleasure was all yours ! You have made three new friends that will remember this special event almost forever! (If you would have caught fish it would have been forever)
Sounds like a great marriage to me, SALMO/EFN with out a doubt we can do great things for each other, and with a little effort from our Pro Staff we can give the other brand a run for their money and get a bigger chunk of the crank bait market ! They have a “GREAT LOOKING” product, and I have used them many times, they track straight, right out of the box, and the hooks are super sharp, and they work like a “QUALITY” crank bait should . And besides that, THEY CATCH FISH !!!!!!
Welcome aboard SALMO and “THANKS” for asking us to be part of your” FUTURE” We are the “NEW WAVE”.

Keep a tight line !!!
Yep… not catching a fish is not because we did not try… and try hard. We started about daylight both days. We worked Indain Point and Cove Bay…and out in front East and West, of the Isle public access. The wind was fierce, and it changed on us on Monday. TOUGH… fishing. Here is a photo Rich, of the Salmo Owner, “Peter” and “Number 3”. Perhaps you can take them out on one of their return trips.

I wish I would have gotten a photo at lunch time and we could of had the three of
them together. I guess I was half froze and busy trying to put out some snacks,
and one was sick and needed to go back to the casino. Oh well I guess maybe I’ll
have to tag along the next time for more practice. They sure seemed interested
in some musky lakes and rivers in Wisconsin and it sounded like it wouldn’t
be hard to talk them into a little sturgeon fishing also. They sure liked the smoked
sturgeon and venison sausage. One said “this sausage tastes just like our salami”.
Steve
Man-o-man Steve… you did put on a good spread. Great smoked sturgeon.
And had the right beer to go with… good man!
Hawger
Change of plans, I will be headed up this weekend instead of the 25th.
Don
Thanks Buddy ! I’m sure we could put something togeather !
Richard (Smitty)
Here is Peter one of the owners of SALMO and a great Northern Pike he took the day before I arrived to take him fishing… with bananas in my boat. It was taken on a Salmo Slider in Real Perch color.
Nice fish Peter!
