James has posted some great catches from the westside of Mille Lacs.

But here on the eastside it has been a much different story. I have had very little luck this past week or so sence the full moon. Many others that I have talked with also report few fish boated?
The water temp is down under 60 deg. and the fish should be more active. The new perch hatch that the DNR has been talking about my have some to do with the slower than usual bite? I sure have spent some time running the reefs out front here on Picard and around Lakeside area with no luck.

I hope the October moon brings some luck to this fisherman!

Anyone else out there having any luck?

My “usual” spots on the west side have also been slow this fall. I was blaming it on the water temps (I haven’t been to ML since the water dipped below 60) but reading your report as well as others from around the lake, tells me we are definitely off to a slow start this fall. I’m going to try to make it up there this weekend – I hope my regular spots treat me better.

It looks like James is catching his fish over gravel and weeds. Most of my fall trolling spots are over rocks. James did mention he hasn’t got a rock bite going yet either. If my next trip starts out slow, I’m going to look for shallow gravel.

    Bobber,

How is the water clarity by your place compared to a few weeks ago? I noticed it was pretty murky about a month ago or so up there from all the rain. Just wondering if alot of that has settled.

Whenever pool 2 gives me a break, I will get up there. Most likely in mid to end of October.

The water clarity has improved some since the summer rains, but it still is darker than normal off my dock……I have given that some of the blame to the slow bite also. I have used some rattle baits thinking they would turn some fish.

    we’ll keep trying…….
