Started Saturday at 6am pulling cranks in 15-18ft on the east side. (3 hrs- 1-27, 1-19). Headed out to 4 mile and pulled spinner rig with crawlers, 2 hours not a bite.
Sunday 7am- Hit the south end of the lake and again pulled cranks and spinners, notta for 5 hrs. I dont know about the rest of you, but its become a bit more of a challenge. Looking forward to the next time and its a 3 day weekend …yeehaw.

After reading James’ report on how they did on the mud flats early last week , I felt embaressed to admit that I had a poor extended weekend. For the different times that I was out , which included some night trolling and also daytime gravel bar live bait fishing , I did poorly. Your report gave me the courage to come forward and face the fact that I was in the wrong areas. I should have gone to the mud but hindsight is always 20/20. We did find a few fish during an evening session on a rock reef with slip bobbers including 2 keepers. This bite came at sunset and was done within a half hour. My expectations for the night bite were high and the areas I fished were not giving me any opportunities. At least the weather was nice with light winds. That was probably part of the problem. The bite is usually better when the wind is blowing. I was showing plenty of action on the graph with plenty of fish hooks and also spots of bait. I guess mother nature has taken care of the food situation for the fish.
Oh well , I will look forward to the September full moon.

I’ll be posting the results to the MTT tourney from saturday and sunday as soon as I get pics. If I remember there were only 22 fish weighed total, so don’t feel bad.
    1st place was 3.33 lbs.

I just figure I better come clean when I don’t fare so well. As I always spout off when I do well. LOL

Glad I’m not the only one who had a rough day.Graphed fish and bugs and minnows all day and still only managed a half dozen in the boat, all on cranks.

I’ll be up there 4 days over the September and October full moon ! I will be fishing on the west side, Wig Wam area, camping at North Star lodge ! Give me a shout ! I have fished there for over 10 years and have always had great success !!! I used to have a 4 seasons ice house at Wig Wam resort when Ron owned it! But things changed, and so did I !!

    Dino or anyone else…

What was the water temp when you were last on the water. Every year, low 60’s, and the fish just seem to crash the shallows. Tell me its dropping!@!!!

I’m ready for FALL, how about anyone else?
How about we have a fall this year that lasts about 4-5 months this year, don’t suppose we could work anything out with mother nature huh?

Basically, last year WAS a four month fall. I hope this year can be half as good. I made my last open water trip to Mille Lacs on December 2nd. It seemed like I managed to hit beautiful weather every time I hit ML last fall. Lots of cloudless nights, gentle breezes, and gobs of big fish. I kept worrying about the weather but also kept lucking out. I hope mother nature doesn’t get her payback this year… especially for the full moons.

Now that Labor Day is here, I’d just as soon see those water temps drop fast.
