DNR estimates…are we our own enemy????

Since we cannot keep the fish and have actual catches surveyed, arent most estimates of how many pounds of fish caught(and thus added to the mortality rate) based on what fisherman tell the DNR at landings???

If so, it reminds me of something Jon J said to me…all fisherman are liars except you and me, and I am not so sure about you. So do you think that the DNR’s surveys are inflated by bragging fisherman who dont want to look bad. And that brings up another question, what if all fisherman just tell the DNR that they were skunked. If you believe that the current regs are unjust, maybe it is time for a little civil disobedience?

What do you think? Anyone for joining the Lake Mille Lacs Skunkers?

I would hope that the collection of data would be a bit more professional than listening to tales that are spun after fishermen get off the lake. If they use heresay evidence and look at websites for fishing reports we do not stand a chance for quality data. Maybe it is time to ask for publication of the facts they use to make the projections. Hopefully it has some scientific basis. I have not been checked by a creel person yet but I would not expect to see them on private property anyway.
