It’s been a long summer with fishing opportunities few and far between as of late. The last couple of weekends Bob and I have fished Mille Lacs and Cedar Lake near Aitkin. Fishing has been mixed, we have caught a lot of quality pike in the 36″-41″ range, mostly on Bulldawgs, Tubes, Spinnerbaits, and Bucktails. With over 40 hours total on the pond, we only have one Musky to show for it. Hence, the absence of any reports from us. The areas that are holding fish right now are deep into vineland bay, south of half moon island in wahkon, in front of the launch in garrison, and the break on the north end up to Myr Mar. Our last outing we pulled top-raiders at about 4.5 mph, behind boards from garrison to myr mar. Not to say there aren’t fish in other places, but that is were it has been consistant, and we have fished all over. We had several explosive strikes but only managed a 38″ pike. This has been a pretty frustrating year with a new job for me, and a new baby girl for Bob. Just never enough time to get out. However, with fishing just starting to slip into the fall swing, I know we will find a way to get out more.
Bob has all the recent pictures on his camera still, but I will get some up soon.
Good luck out there, let’s see some pigs!!
